Week 11: Shaping the bonnet of the Ferrari

In this week, I have start to create the metal skin of the bonnet with the plastic hammers and a large piece of metal sheet.

Firstly, the bonnet outlined the shape of entire piece we divided in last week, then I cut to the similar rectangle size and cut to suitable shape for the bonnet; after that, started to shape the entire curve shape with plastic hammers.

To shape the embossed part at the middle of the bonnet, my group mate and I made a module for shaping, which tried to utilize "the blister" skill to form this part.

Then, I have create a smooth and subtle embossed shape for the bonnet. Also other part of the metal sheet has to be adjusted evenly due to the shape change of the entire pieces by flat edge hammer.

In term of creating a sharped front edge, I also made a module by "the Tray" skill, which use two MDF board nailed together, then create a curve shape by jigsaw and sander.

After repeating between beating with the module for front edge and measure the shape on the car module, the front bumper has been shaped smoothly and close to the original shape.
